Musculoskeletal Medical Services

  • Comprehensive Musculoskeletal Injury Assessment: a means of evaluation to consider the degree of significant (and subtle) abnormalities in the musculoskeletal system. This involves thorough examination of the muscles, bones, and joints, through the use of inspection, palpation, and manipulation. 
  • Imaging-Based Evaluation: Use of medical imaging (x-ray, ultrasound, CT/MRI) results for the purposes of early detection, monitoring, diagnosis, and treatment evaluation of various medical conditions.
  • Postural Analysis: a clinical evaluation to assess certain postural alterations of the body that may underly musculoskeletal injuries leading to pain and injury. Evaluation considers both static posture (how one holds oneself when not moving, such as sitting, standing, or sleeping, and which may be related to the effects of repetitive motion) and dynamic posture (how one holds oneself when moving, such as walking, running, or bending). 

Electrodiagnostic Medical Services

  • Electromyography Testing (EMG): a diagnostic procedure to assess the health of muscles and the nerves that control them. EMG testing can be used to reveal a disorder of nerves and/or muscles, or problems relating to the transmission of signals from nerves to muscles. 
  • Chemical Nerve Ablation: A procedure targeting one or more nerves associated with an illness that is intended to shrink (i.e. denervate) sensory or sympathetic functions while leaving the motor functions intact. Nerve ablation produces an interruption of the nerves transmission of pain signals. Chemical nerve ablation employs a specific type of medication that is injected near the problematic area to cause the nerve to shrink and atrophy.

Interventional Procedures

  • Intramuscular Stimulation: A procedure for the diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain conditions that occur in the musculoskeletal system when there is no clear sign of injury or illness. IMS utilizes small gauge needles that are inserted into painful parts of the body to help alleviate muscle, tissue, and nerve-related pain. This may be combined with the use of a soothing infrared heat source to stimulate tissues during the procedure.
  • Steroid Injection: Steroids are naturally occurring chemicals found in the body. Steroid medication injections can be used to reduce inflammation in joints and soft tissues, such as tendons or tennis elbow. A diagnostic ultrasound machine may be used during the procedure to improve the locational accuracy of the injection.

Manual Osteopathic Medical Services

  • Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy (OMT): a holistically oriented hands-on method of treatment provided by a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) to selectively treat some types of mechanical pain (muscle, tendon or bone pain due to structural imbalance). This is achieved through the application of gentle pressure to manipulate joints, muscles, and soft tissues. The form of treatment encourages the body to heal itself by ensuring the bones and muscles are properly aligned and balanced.
  • (HI) Histological (VA) Variable (MA) Manual (T) Technique (HIVAMAT): a unique, patented treatment method that utilizes an intermittent electrostatic field to create safe deeply oscillating electrostatic waves. These waves provide a massaging effect within damaged tissues that relaxes muscles, reduces pain, and decreases swelling. The effect can be helpful in restoring flexibility and improving blood supply to the area of treatment.

Regenerative Medical Services

  • Prolotherapy: A nonsurgical regenerative injection technique for the treatment of chronic musculoskeletal pain and instability, whereby small amounts of a sterile solution are injected into the site of painful and/or damaged connective tissues, joints, and adjacent joint spaces. These injections stimulate the inflammatory response that activates the natural healing process of the body.
  • Platelet-Rich Plasma: A nonsurgical regenerative injection technique that uses a platelet-concentrated form of the patient’s own blood to stimulate repair to an injury. Platelets contain various growth and healing factors that stimulate repair throughout the body and their concentrated use in injection — in the form of cell reproduction, growth, and tissue regeneration.
